Rising Above Myself

Do you ever have those dreams from which you just can't wake up?

I'm having one of those this morning.  I am walking around in a true fog.  Part of me still remains in that dream.  It is one from which I am choosing not to depart - one that I know has things to teach me.

I do not want to divert my thinking from that place lest it disappears forever.  So I will share with you this morning something I shared with the Tribe last night (the amazing group of women who have been through the BIG process), part of portrait work.

This is the art:
(Brighter here than in person.  Some day I'll learn how to make the two match.)

This is the poem:

The time has come
to break all my promises
tear apart all chains
and cast away all advice

Disassemble the heavens
link by link
and break at once
all lovers' ties
with the sword of death

Put cotton inside
both my ears
and close them to
all words of wisdom

Crash the door and
enter the chamber
where all sweet
things are hidden

How long can I
beg and bargain
for the things of this world
while love is waiting

How long before
I can rise beyond
how I am and
what I am

How more perfectly could I state my being?

  1. This is a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing it with us today.

  2. Ah, how well those words encompass my own thinking right now - although mine are not as eloquent!

    "the time has come....."

How true! THE time.... The RIGHT time.... That time is NOW!

Not when we think we're most ready, or when the circumstances are right but NOW!! It's time for those dreams, even the waking ones(!) to become s reality!

So let us drink deep of those draughts of courage, as I think we're going to need every drop!

    Huge hugs xxx

  3. gorgeoussssss painting!!!!
& this rumi poem speaks to me
    in a way THIS MOMENT
    that's almost STARTLING!
    what a gift!
    looove to you!!! xox

  4. So beautiful and truly moving - both the art and the poem. All your art has such spirituality in it. I love how this introspective woman is seemingly rising from herself and reaching for something new and unseen. Terrific, Lisa! Theresa

  5. great eye candy and poem. thanks for sharing both

keep the dream close at heart

    my word verification is: faded
that means don't let the dream fade
